Evaluation order (Priority 0)
Smart Funnel is evaluated at Priority 0. If a shopper meets the eligibility criteria, the Smart Funnel offer is shown before any manual funnels. If a shopper sees a Smart Funnel post-purchase offer, manual funnel post-purchase offers are suppressed by this priority rule. (Thank You Page widgets are handled separately, see Thank You Page behaviour below.)AI recommended products
Smart Funnel pulls product recommendations from your selected Product Recommendation Tool, configured under Settings → Automatic Upsells. You can exclude specific SKUs there as well. If your highlighted product goes out of stock, or if the selected layout calls for multiple items, the AI automatically substitutes the next best products.Discount requirements
For best performance, set a non-zero Max Discount, since the templates do not dynamically adjust based on the discount field value. A 0% Max Discount is allowed, but for 0% discount offers a manual funnel is generally a better fit. This may be improved in the future.Thank You Page behaviour
Smart Funnel governs post-purchase upsells only and does not natively support Thank You Page (TYP) upsells. Because of this, when TYP widgets are eligible to display, the system automatically references the first applicable manual funnel that contains TYP upsells. Only the TYP widgets from that funnel are displayed, even though the post-purchase offers from that funnel are not shown earlier in the customer journey. So if a shopper sees a Smart Funnel post-purchase offer, manual funnel post-purchase offers are suppressed, but TYP widgets may still appear based on manual funnel eligibility. To keep serving TYP widgets, run at least one manual funnel that contains them alongside Smart Funnel.English-only display
Smart Funnel content is currently available in English only. Delivery is automatically restricted to shoppers who check out with an English locale. The check is on the customer’s checkout locale, not your store’s default language. If a significant portion of your audience speaks other languages, continue using manual funnels with locale-based triggers to serve those shoppers. Support for additional languages is on the roadmap.Eligibility and low or zero visits
If your Smart Funnel is active and has allocated traffic but is getting very few or no post-purchase visits, an info icon (!) appears on the Smart Funnel banner. Clicking it scrolls to and expands the eligibility details panel at the bottom of the Funnels page.Eligibility insights are not available on every store yet. If you don’t see the info icon, contact support and we can look into low or zero visits with you.
The eligibility insights icon only appears when viewing a date range of 30 days or longer. Short or custom date ranges don’t provide enough data to diagnose a problem.
- Your Smart Funnel is active with traffic allocated, and
- Post-purchase visits are 0 (any traffic allocation), or
- Post-purchase visits are fewer than 10 with 50% or more of traffic allocated to the Smart Funnel
- Shopify eligibility limits (not fixable). Some orders can’t show one-click post-purchase offers, for example orders paid with Apple Pay or Google Pay. This is a Shopify platform restriction. The panel links to Shopify’s limitations documentation.
- Excluded collections (fixable). If you’ve excluded collections from product recommendations in Settings → Automatic upsells, and every AI-recommended product falls within those excluded collections, Smart Funnel skips the offer entirely. The panel shows how many collections you’ve excluded and links directly to your exclusion settings.
- “Skip products in original order” combined with exclusions (fixable). If you have both “Skip products in original order” enabled and excluded collections configured, Smart Funnel may skip offers when every recommended product is filtered out by one or both rules. The panel links to your Smart Funnel settings so you can adjust these options.
