Geolocation Pricing

Set custom reward thresholds per country instead of relying on automatic currency conversion. Note: This feature applies to the Tiered Rewards module only. It is not available for Triggered Rewards. Geolocation Pricing lets you define custom reward minimum amounts for specific countries, giving you precise control over reward thresholds across international markets. This is useful when you want customers in different regions to qualify for rewards at locally appropriate amounts rather than relying on exchange rate conversions. For example, you may want US customers to qualify at $75, while customers in Japan need to reach 8,000 JPY regardless of exchange rate fluctuations. This feature works best if your store uses Shopify Markets with multiple currencies enabled.

Where to Find It

  1. Open Upcart
  2. Click Edit cart
  3. Navigate to Tiered Rewards > Advanced Settings

Geolocation Pricing vs. Auto Currency Conversion

Upcart offers two ways to handle international reward thresholds:

⚠️ Do not enable both settings at the same time. If Geolocation Pricing Override is active alongside Auto Currency Conversion, Shopify’s exchange rate will be applied on top of your custom values, resulting in unintended thresholds. Use one or the other.

How to Enable Geolocation Pricing

  1. In the Cart Editor, navigate to Rewards > General Settings
  2. Click Show Advanced Settings
  3. Enable Geolocation Pricing Override
  4. Click Configure Geolocation Pricing to open the setup window

Configuring Rules

Each rule lets you define a target group of countries and set custom minimum amounts per reward tier. Country Targeting For each rule, choose whether it applies to:
  • Only the countries listed, or
  • All countries except those listed
Enter countries using two-letter ISO codes (e.g. US, JP, GB). You can find the full list in the Shopify Country Code reference. Setting Thresholds Set the minimum threshold amounts for whichever tiers you have configured. Fill in only the tiers you’ve created you don’t need to complete every field. To target multiple markets, add a separate row for each (e.g. one row for the US, another for Japan). When you’re done, click Update to save your changes.
📌 Rule order matters. Upcart processes rules from top to bottom. Place more specific rules (e.g. “Only US and JP”) above broader ones (e.g. “All Countries”) to prevent conflicts. If no rule matches a customer’s country, the default base threshold applies.

Troubleshooting

Wrong threshold applying for a country Check the rule order. A broader rule higher in the list may be overriding a more specific one. Thresholds behaving unexpectedly Confirm that Auto Currency Conversion is not also enabled. Having both active will apply exchange rates on top of your custom values. A country isn’t being matched Double-check that you’re using the correct two-letter ISO code. Refer to the Shopify Country Code reference for the full list.
