# Manual Upsell Trigger Limitations

> This article outlines how to resolve manual upsell errors in Upcart by following these tips to avoid Shopify’s data size limitations.

# Overview

This article explains why you might encounter an error when saving **manual upsell triggers** in Upcart and how to prevent it.

You can find this setting by going to **Upcart > Editor > Upsells Module**.

If you see an error like **“An error occurred: Unable to save changes,”** it is usually due to exceeding **Shopify’s data size limit**.

There is no fixed number of upsell lines that will cause this issue. The limit depends on the **total amount of data** being saved. Some products, especially those with many variants or detailed configurations, contain more data than others. As a result, the limit can vary depending on product complexity and quantity.

## Tips to Avoid the Shopify Data Size Limit Error

**1. Use Collections**\
Instead of adding products individually, use **collections**. This reduces data load and makes your setup easier to manage.

**2. Combine Upsell Rows**\
If multiple rows share the same trigger product, merge them into a single row. This helps conserve data space.

**3. Choose Upsells Wisely**\
Display only the most relevant upsells. Showing too many options can confuse shoppers and reduce their effectiveness due to decision fatigue.
