# Setup guide

> The Setup guide on the Aftersell home page walks you through activating post-purchase upsells, your checkout page, and Rokt Thanks, and tracks your progress across each area.

The **Setup guide** sits at the top of the **Grow your store** column and walks you through activating each Aftersell surface. It tracks your progress automatically — steps complete themselves as you finish the underlying work, whether you did it from the guide or elsewhere in the app.

The guide is grouped into three areas. Each shows its own progress (for example, **2 of 3**) and expands to reveal its steps.

## Set up post-purchase upsells

| Step                                      | What it does                                                                                  |
| ----------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Enable Aftersell in Shopify settings**  | Select Aftersell as your post-purchase app in Shopify settings.                               |
| **Create and activate your first funnel** | Build a post-purchase funnel and set it live.                                                 |
| **Enable Smart Funnel**                   | Let Aftersell automatically show and optimize the best post-purchase offer for each customer. |

Once every step is done, this area is relabelled **Post-purchase upsells are live**.

The funnel step is marked complete as soon as **any** funnel is active on your store — you do not need to have walked through the guide's own flow for it to count.

## Set up checkout page

| Step                                             | What it does                                            |
| ------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Create and activate your first checkout page** | Build a checkout page and set it live.                  |
| **Place app block in the Checkout editor**       | Drag the Aftersell app block into your checkout layout. |

Once complete, this area is relabelled **Checkout page is live**.

## Set up Rokt Thanks

| Step                                         | What it does                                                                  |
| -------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Enable Rokt Thanks**                       | Turn on Rokt Thanks for your store.                                           |
| **Place app block on your Thank you page**   | Add the Rokt Thanks app block to your Thank you page.                         |
| **Enroll in Earn & Save to lower your bill** | Shown only if your store is eligible for [Earn & Save](/aftersell/earn-save). |

Once complete, this area is relabelled **Rokt Thanks is earning**.

## Dismissing the guide

The **X** in the guide's header dismisses it, and the chevron next to it collapses it without dismissing.

Dismissal is not always permanent. If your Rokt setup is still incomplete when you dismiss, the guide is hidden for the current session only and returns the next time you open Aftersell. Once your Rokt area is complete, dismissing it sticks.

Either way, dismissing the guide brings up [Quick actions](/aftersell/home/quick-actions) in its place — the two never appear together.
