# Managing multiple carts

> Save and manage more than one Aftersell Cart, and understand how only one goes live at a time alongside A/B tests.

You can save as many carts as you like, but **only one cart is live at a time.** This page explains how multiple carts work together.

## One live cart

The Carts page splits your carts into **Live carts** and **Draft carts**. There is always at most one live cart, and every shopper sees that same cart.

* **Publishing** a draft makes it live and **moves the previously live cart back to draft** — so publishing is also how you switch which cart is live.
* There is **no per-shopper targeting** that picks between whole carts. You don't route some shoppers to Cart A and others to Cart B outside of a test (below).

## Why keep multiple carts

Even with one live cart, saving several is useful for:

* **Preparing variants** — build a seasonal or campaign cart as a draft and publish it when you're ready.
* **A/B testing** — compare two carts against real traffic (below).
* **Keeping a known-good version** to fall back to.

To start a new cart from an existing one, use the **Duplicate** action in the Carts list.

## Running two carts at once: A/B tests

The way to serve two carts to real traffic at the same time is a [**cart test**](/aftersell/cart/tests-overview). A test pits your live cart against one challenger draft and splits traffic between them by a weight you set. Shoppers are stickily bucketed, so a returning shopper keeps seeing the same variant for the duration of the test. When you end the test, you pick the winner and it becomes the live cart.

Only one test can run per store at a time.

## Conditions target blocks, not carts

Aftersell does have **conditions** based on Shopify market, customer country, and customer currency — but these vary the content *inside a single cart* (most notably the [Rewards](/aftersell/cart/rewards-block) block's tiers), not which cart a shopper sees. Use conditions to localize a block; use publishing or a test to choose between whole carts.
